 KMGH DENVER 7 - Managing Editor - Investigative Executive Producer

2018 - Present

Managed an investigative team that brought home 30 Emmy awards, 2 consecutive national Edward R. Murrow awards and multiple AP and NAB trophies. As Managing Editor improved overall ratings by more than 30% in 3-years. And as the station's talent coach, improved  reporter pitches, source-building and storytelling.

WTOC/WMBF - News Anchor and Chief Investigative Reporter

2012 - 2018

 

As WTOC's primary evening anchor, grew our audience by another 20% maintaining the station #1 status by an even greater margin. My investigative stories won half a dozen Emmys, the station's first in nearly a decade. Those investigative stories changed state laws and altered local and regional policies. Named viewers' choice "Best Local Investigative Reporter" 3 years in a row. Finally, developed and hosted bi-annual reporting workshops for reporters and producers at Raycom Media.

KIMA - Anchor/MMJ/Asst. News Director

2009 - 2012

 

Anchored primary evening newscasts leading this #1 station to its highest ratings in 50+ years. I managed all aspects of the news operation from budgeting to recruiting and branding. My coaching of this young staff created talented, television journalists who went on to secure work in top 30 markets. And it was my own reporting that helped to set the standard for expectations in the newsroom.

Promoted station’s advocacy brand and strategy into all evening newscasts moving KGUN's ratings position to the number 2 station in the market. I managed newscast story choice and producer rundowns.  And I maximized daily engagement on multiple digital platforms.

Broke investigative stories impacting the local community. As evening anchor and managing editor, worked with my producing staff in story selection and content. During my tenure, evening newscast ratings at this Fox News O&O grew to their highest level in more than a decade.  

 

WTSP - News Reporter/Anchor

1991 - 1999

 

As the station senior evening reporter, developed an extensive list of local contacts used to break stories every night. I was able to maximize daily viewer engagement through live reporting on the day’s biggest stories. When it came to national and international coverage, I was among the first chosen to take on the biggest stories of the time from live coverage of the Gulf War in the Middle East to award winning reporting on the Gainesville murders to extended coverage of multiple hurricanes. From 1995 to 1999 I was the co-anchor of the station's morning newscasts.
